Description
The classic charm and old world feel of this finely detailed large floor globe bar are amplified by the chestnut colored semi-meridian that encompasses the top half of the 16th century globe reproduction. The top of the globe sphere fully rotates around its meridian either when it is opened or closed and opens to reveal a bar cabinet that comfortably holds 4-5 bottles and approximately 12 glasses. More glassware can be stored on the beautifully decorated lower base shelf.
This classic large floor globe bar is a true museum-quality replica, as are all globe bars created by Zoffoli. We have been passing on the expertise of reproducing antique globes from father to son for over three generations, remaining true to traditional craftsmanship while enhancing it with cutting edge precision technology. Our antique replica world globes and bar globes are as authentic as any twenty-first-century works of sixteenth-century furniture art can be.
In addition to the spacious liquor cabinet inside the intricately detailed world globe itself, the beautifully illustrated shelf at its base is equipped with a specially fitted bottle rack that provides space to securely store glassware and bar accessories. The hand turned wood legs are fitted with casters so this home bar can easily be rolled to another location.
This charming bar globe has been named Calipso, or Calypso in English. In Greek mythology Calypso was a nymph who lived on the island of Ogygia, where she detained Odysseus for several years. Calypso is generally said to be the daughter of the Titan Atlas and Pleione.
