Description
This brand new floor globe bar cabinet features a beautiful, museum-quality 18th-century reproduction map that is available in three new stunning colors that are hot off the Zoffoli press: olive green, antique white, and honey brown.
While the exterior of the globe sphere of this floor globe bar cabinet has an abundance of geographical references and is a faithful reproduction of the eighteenth century, the Exceptional Explora’s interior is adorned with ornamental and mythological motifs that will take you to faraway lands, ancient naval routes, and exciting journeys to unexplored territories.
The drinks cabinet inside the 16-inch globe sphere can hold 2 to 3 bottles and approximately 9 glasses. Additional bottles and glassware can be stored on the lovely base shelf which features a beautiful illustration of a wind rose. A wind rose is a graphic tool used by meteorologists to give a succinct view of how wind speed and direction are typically distributed at a particular location.
Another unique feature of the Exceptional Explora floor globe bar cabinet is its semi-meridian. The structure is stained and varnished the same color as the floor stand, but it also features a section that mimics the base color of the globe map, creating a lovely contrast. This is also true of the equatorial ring, which features signs of the zodiac.
The hand-turned solid hardwood spiral legs of the floor globe bar cabinet are stained a rich, lovely mocha color that is in charming contrast to the globe map, regardless of which of the three map colors you have chosen. The floor stand of the bar globe is equipped with casters for easy mobility.
The Explora’s motifs and illustrations were inspired by the Harmonia Macrocosmica, a star atlas written by Andreas Cellarius and published in 1660 by Johannes Janssonius. For its importance in the history of celestial cartography, often described as the most beautiful celestial atlas ever published, the Harmonia Macrocosmica is considered one of the notable masterworks from the Golden Age of Dutch/Netherlandish cartography (c. 1570s–1670s).
Here’s what Zoffoli says about the Explora, its latest addition: White like the ice of Greenland, Green like the Amazon rainforest and Red like the parched earth of the Grand Canyon. The Explora globe is a journey through the colours and the atmospheres of the places you dream. You can touch with your hands remote places and imagine being there. Close your eyes, immerse yourself in the sounds and scents that surround you, in the flavors of faraway lands and cultures, and let yourself be carried away…
